ACCOMPLISHMENT
AND PRIDE

"Look Mom, that's where I can take karate," My five year old son recognized the word "karate" because he took a small class at another school before we moved to Cream Ridge.  We went in, met Master Everson, enrolled in the school, and the rest is history.

That was thirteen years ago.  He went on to become a black belt a few short years later, but not without a few ups and downs along the way.  He played baseball and soccer with busy practice schedules that made it sometimes difficult to attend class three or four times a week.

Sometimes he just didn't want to go to class at all.  Sometimes I didn't want to go either!  But there was something to be said about the sense of accomplishment and pride I would see every time he was promoted to another level, a new belt, a stripe removed, a compliment from Master Everson or Master Williams. If you are reading this, you already know about all the benefits karate has bestowed on your children or on you.

My son and daughter both learned that you don't always win, you have to work for what you want, and you have to set an example for others.  These are valuable lessons they have taken with them as they have grown into young adults.

I credit Master Everson, Master Williams and Master Christina for being available, patient, caring instructors who always look to bring out the best in their students.  They motivate me to come to kickboxing class every week because it is a great workout.

These qualities have never changed ever since I met all of them and I consider them my friends.  Now my third child is a Tiny Tiger.  Get ready for another thirteen years!

PERSONAL GROWTH

Master Everson, Master Williams and Master Christina,

What news!!!  Jess got accepted yesterday at The Peddie School.  She is thrilled! I just wanted you all to know what an important part of Jessie’s life you all have been.  She started at Everson’s when she was 6 and has grown into a bright, confident young woman that I can credit her time with you as a big part of her growth.

Sincerely,
Mary Ann Cook

BENEFITS FOR HOME

Everson’s Karate echoes what we teach at home. It is very helpful when trusted and respected instructors reinforce what we are saying and doing at home.

PROUD MOM

My 4 year old son tested for his first belt yesterday and I have never been prouder.  I was amazed at how much he had learned in just 4 weeks.  He has learned so much in such a short time.  It was something that neither one of us will ever forget.

Thank you

ENRICHING OUR CHILDREN LIVES

When we signed our children up for karate classes, we knew that they would learn self-defense and get great exercise.  We’ve come to learn that karate offers so much more than that.  It also develops their confidence and discipline.  It promotes goal setting, respect, and pride in what they’ve accomplished.  These are important life skills for them to know. Both of our children are dedicated to earning their black belts in the future, and we believe that they have the desire and discipline necessary to make that happen.  It is good to know that karate has helped enrich our children in all aspects of their lives.

Sincerely,
Tom & Lisa Krosnowski

EXCITING NEWS: for Parents who are SERIOUS about Raising Their Child’s Level of
Confidence, Focus, Fitness and Discipline!

Dear Parents,

If you’re serious about raising your child's level of confidence, focus, discipline and fitness then we have the program just for you. My name is Dusty Everson; my school, Everson’s Karate has successfully helped many families just like yours in the Robbinsville area for over 20 years. Along with my partners Donna Williams and Christinia Everson, our goal is to enhance the lives of children & adults, so they will make the right choices in life. Through this letter I’m going to tell you how the Martial Arts has enhanced the lives of many families, helping them to UNLOCK THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL!

Let me start off by saying that in all my years as a Martial Art Teacher the key motivator why many parents just like you call a Martial Art school is because they need a little extra help when it comes to building their child’s level of confidence and focus. We have uncovered one simple need or desire in them…to somehow change the behavior of their child.

Everson’s Karate Has Helped Many Children
to Unlock Their True Potential By:

Teaching Them to Always Think Positive Thoughts!

If you want to be a successful person, be a positive thinker. Do your best to eliminate negative thoughts from your mind and find the good in every situation. Negative thinking will hold you back from reaching your goals and being a healthy, happy and productive person. Look at virtually any highly successful person and you will quickly notice that they are a positive thinker. The evidence is all around you. See the pattern?

Teaching Them to Constantly Feed Their Brain!

Your success will only grow to the level that you do. Always learning as much as you can from highly successful people, in and out of your four walls. The more you learn the better the school grades. Therefore, the more financial freedom, the better leader you will become.

Teaching Them to Believe in Themselves!

Enter every situation with victory mindset and the intent to succeed. You must erase any self-doubt, fear and uncertainty from your psyche. Focus not on what you fear, but on where you want to go. You’ll create self-fulfilling prophecies; the kind that lead to success. If you don’t believe in yourself, then people around you won’t either, and you’ll never build the life of your dreams.

Teaching Them to Surround Themselves with Winners!

If you want to feel and think negatively, then spend time with negative people. They’ll be sure to grab you by the ankles and pull you down to their level at every opportunity. On the other hand, success breeds success. The more you associate with winners, the more you’ll start to think and act like one.

Teaching Them to Think Big, Not Small!

Someone once said if you aim your arrow at a star, then you might hit the moon, but if you aim your arrow at the moon, then you might only hit an eagle. It’s true. That’s why highly successful people think big. On the other hand, I’ve found that struggling people typically think small. They’re happy to just get by. So, usually, that’s the level they achieve…mediocre results. Don’t you want and deserve better than that for yourself and your family?

Attention Loving Parents:

Discover the Almost Magical Formula to Building Your Child’s Confidence
and Self-Esteem!

As a parent you prepare your child for the many challenges that they will be facing in life the best you can every day. Each day you ask your children to face challenges that were unheard of just a few short years ago: Children Being Bullied, ADHD, Peer Pressure, Violence, and the level of negativity in our society that can discourage even the brightest and most optimistic child.

When our children hopefully manage to remain physically safe, we can’t help but feel alarmed – wondering if they are maintaining the optimism and self-esteem they had when they were younger.

So what do you do about developing the confidence in your children so they succeed in life? The Martial Arts has been helping Children and Adults in their journey to life's happiness. Happiness comes from having confidence in yourself. When a child has confidence, and believe in themselves they live a HAPPIER LIFE.

Parents, Would You Recognize
The Signs of Your Child Being Bullied?

Parents, Bullying takes place in every school: According to the Heroes and Dreams Foundation, a nonprofit resource center for parents in Minneapolis, on average, one student in 10 is bullied at least once a week, and one in three has experienced bullying as either a bully or a target during the average school term. The children most likely to experience bullying are in fifth, sixth and seventh grades. Boys are more likely to be involved than girls.

There are three types of bullying. It can be physical (hitting, kicking, taking things or returning things damaged); verbal (name-calling,

taunting, insulting); or emotional (shunning, spreading nasty gossip). It is deliberate and hurtful behavior, usually repeated over a period of time. Bullying is almost always done to kids who are perceived to be more vulnerable than the bullies.

The fear of being harassed in school gets in the way of learning, and makes going to school a miserable experience. Being bullied can make children feel lonely, unhappy and unsafe. Children who are being bullied may develop stomach aches, nightmares, nervousness and anxiety.

Too often, parents are the last to know their child is in trouble. Remember, bullies work through fear and manipulation. They often intimidate children into silence by threatening to harm them or by labeling them "wimps" or "babies" if they tell an adult what's going on. Therefore, it's important for parents of school-age children to be on the lookout for signs of bullying. If your son routinely comes home from school extremely hungry, ask him why. Maybe someone is taking his lunch. Does your daughter rush to the bathroom as soon as she gets off the bus? Maybe she's afraid to enter the school bathroom because a child uses this place to threaten or intimidate her. It's a good idea to make it a habit to ask your child what's happening at school, especially if you suspect a problem. Ask pointed questions ("Who's the bully in your class?" or "Who bothers kids on the bus?"), particularly if you are unable to be home when your child gets off the school bus. The reason? "By the time you arrive home and talk with your child about the day, she may no longer be focusing on the fact that Susie is bothering her on the bus. But that doesn't mean it wasn't upsetting to her."

Now, read carefully.  I’m going to tell you a secret.

If you understand what I’m about to tell you, you will have the “key” to resolving this entire, frustrating situation. The Secret:  Some kids don’t get picked on at all. That’s right.  Some kids don’t get picked on – at all.  They don’t pick on other kids, either.  They are free to enjoy themselves, to be themselves…and it wouldn’t even occur to a bully to give them a hard time. Bullying is a very difficult problem to stop.  Our mission at Everson’s Karate is to ensure every child has the right to feel safe and develop to their full potential. A goal of Everson’s Karate is to be a community leader and center for the fight against bullying.  Sadly, we are involved with bullying to karate students and non-students on almost a weekly basis.  Can this crisis be stopped?  First, we must develop an atmosphere in which bullying is always unacceptable and will not be tolerated.  Second, it takes a whole community to save our children. We must arm the victim, bully, bystander, parents, schools and community with the anti-bullying tools and systems. "CONFIDENCE IS THE SECRET"

CHICAGO (CNN) -- Four out of five middle school students say that they act like bullies at least once a month, according to a new study that found such aggressive behavior to be more common than previously thought.

The study of 558 students in a Midwestern middle school found that 80 percent said their behavior included physical aggression, social ridicule, teasing, name-calling and issuing threats within the previous 30 days.

And many middle school students are not shy about admitting such behavior.

"Yep, I get in fights with a lot of kids," one boy told CNN.

The classic image of the "lone" schoolyard bully doesn't ring true, according to the study, conducted by the University of Illinois.

By asking students if they had engaged in certain behaviors over the past month without telling them those behaviors are defined as bullying, we found that our results support that adolescents don't neatly fall into categories of either bullies or non-bullies," said psychologist Dorothy Espelage, author of the study.

Earlier research had concluded that bullies account for up to only 15 percent of the school population.

How To Make Your Child Bully Proof

If your child complains about being bullied at school,
or if you suspect that might be happening,
here are some suggestions.

Make it clear that you accept your child's reports of what is happening and that you take them seriously. She needs to know she has someone on her side that is willing to help her. Today, you are her hero. Reassure her that this situation can be resolved.

At the same time, let her know that you do not think this is her fault. Her confidence has already taken a big hit, and she already feels like a victim.

While it is natural to want to protect your child by solving the problem for him, it will serve your child better if you teach him how to solve the problem himself. By learning the skills to stand up for himself, he can use them in other situations.

Ask your child how she has been dealing with the bullying, talk about what else can be done and discuss what actions you can both take to solve the problem. Reassure her you will consult her before taking any action.

Teach your child how to respond to a bully in a bold, assertive way. Practice with him at home by role

Remember, bullying is not a normal part of growing up. Help your child develop the necessary tools to stick up for himself and others.

playing. Participation in other activities builds confidence and develops social skills, making it easier to find ways of saying "Leave me alone."

Suggest that your child stick with two or more other children when at the playground, the bus stop or wherever she comes face-to-face with the bully.

Make sure your child knows it is okay to ask for help from a teacher or other adult. Practice what he'll say so he doesn't sound like he's whining or tattling.

Determine if your child has healthy friendshipswith other children. If not, perhaps she can benefit by developing better social skills. Encourage her to invite friends over to your home and participate in school activities.

If necessary, meet with school representatives to discuss the problem.

TEACHING MORE THAN KARATE

We believe that Matthew has become a more confident and responsible young man. It has made him realize that in order to achieve goals in life he has to work for it. When he was in the first grade he was having trouble with reading, with Everson's reading program he was able to reach and go beyond his goals.
