My name is Dusty Everson; my school, Everson’s Karate has successfully helped many families just like yours in the Robbinsville area for over 20 years. Along with my partners Donna Williams and Christinia Everson, our desire is to enhance the lives of children so they will make the right choices in life. Our goal is to show you how the Martial Arts can enhance your childrens lives, helping them to UNLOCK THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL! Let me start off by saying that in all my years as a Martial Art teacher I’ve discover that parents desire to enroll their children into a Martial Art school is because it closely follows the disciplines and relationship just like these found in school and your home. This is a powerful motivator when looking for a little extra help building your Childs level of confidence, discipline and focus. We’ll work with you and your child in personal way to uncover their potential to succeed and grow. Sometimes just having passion for something can take care of behavioral issues. The biggest asset of “Everson's Karate” is Easy. The teachers. Now, I’ll tell you up front. They are not like the teachers you’ve seen in the Martial Art movies. Are they “tough guys?” Yes. But what you will notice (and so will your child)…is that they are “Nice Guys.” They have been hand selected…not just because they are great Martial Artists. They have been chosen because they are wonderful people…and have a great love of helping others benefit from the Martial Arts! All of our teachers were once students at “Everson's Karate” themselves. They care about each student individually -- and are totally committed to helping your child reach his or her potential. Everson’s Karate Might Just Be the Big #1. Positive Role Models: The biggest asset of “Everson’s Karate?” Easy. They care about each student individually -- and are totally committed to helping your child reach his or her potential. #2. Physical Fitness: It’s hard to feel good about yourself when you are out of shape physically…or when your athletic skills have not been fully developed. Our belief is that, regardless of how athletic somebody seems to be…there is an athlete inside all of us. When a student feels their physical skills skyrocket…it’s not long before their self-image follows suit! #4. Regular Incentives for Effort and Achievement: The belt system of Martial Arts white, yellow, orange, gold, green, etc.), regular positive feedback and recognition of accomplishment, incentives for improvement, applause, smiles, and high-fives will systematically lead your child into the “Yes, I Can!” attitude you’ve always wanted for him or her. #5. The “Message of the Week”: Regular exposure, through our “Message of the Week,” to systematic instruction, accompanied by exercises in the lessons of respect, discipline, focus, persistence, courage, discipline and confidence. (Most of our parents name this as their favorite part of the program!) #6. A Proven System of Skill Development: No fancy theories or hard to understand concepts here Master Everson, Master Williams and Master Christinia are experts in teaching the actual SKILLS of listening and focus. Hint: We’ll be teaching these to your child in the very first week! #7. A Series of Positively Constructed Challenges that will build your child’s confidence. You will be delighted as you see your children confidently move outside their comfort zone. As the weeks go by, you will smile with pride as your son or daughter moves from challenge to challenge…their confidence soaring at each new accomplishment! #8. An Atmosphere of Respect: You watch with satisfaction as your children learn to give respect and to earn respect. Most importantly, they learn the essential lessons of Self-Respect! #9. Order and Structure: Even though the atmosphere is friendly and supportive, Karate is not “play time.” You will be delighted to see how your children develop focus and persistence in our orderly, structured environment. #10. A Friendship Based Environment: If you are expecting the old, harsh, authoritarian, military style Martial Art training…you are going to be sadly disappointed. When you visit us, you will find a friendly, supportive environment. Some of the teachers and long time students have been friends for nearly 20 years. That atmosphere of friendship, support, and respect will give your child the support he or she needs to succeed! “Peer pressure is one of the most powerful forces on earth and it doesn't stop "Come on! ALL of us are cutting math. Who wants to go take that quiz? We're going to take a walk and get lunch instead. Let's go!" says the coolest kid in your class. Do you do what you know is right and go to math class, quiz and all? Or do you give in and go with them? As you grow older, you'll be faced with some challenging decisions. Some don't have a clear right or wrong answer - like should you play soccer or field hockey? Other decisions involve serious moral questions, like whether to cut class, try cigarettes, or lie to your parents. Making decisions on your own is hard enough, but when other people get involved and try to pressure you one way or another it can be even harder. People who are your age, like your classmates, are called peers. When they try to influence how you act, to get you to do something, it's called peer pressure. It's something everyone has to deal with - even adults. Defining Peer PressurePeers influence your life, even if you don't realize it, just by spending time with you. You learn from them, and they learn from you. It's only human nature to listen to and learn from other people in your age group. Peers can have a positive influence on each other. Maybe another student in your science class taught you an easy way to remember the planets in the solar system, or someone on the soccer team taught you a cool trick with the ball. You might admire a friend who is always a good sport and try to be more like him or her. Maybe you got others excited about your new favorite book, and now everyone's reading it. These are examples of how peers positively influence each other every day. Sometimes peers influence each other in negative ways. For example, a few kids in school might try to get you to cut class with them, your soccer friend might try to convince you to be mean to another player and never pass her the ball, or a kid in the neighborhood might want you to shoplift with him. Learning to deal with peer pressure is build on a foundation of confidence, great choices, discipline, and self-respect. Each of these areas are part of the core training curriculum and structure of Everson’s Karate Institute. As we teach our classes, we focus on helping our students lean and understand the bridge between making the right choices they face everyday of their life. Our instructor talk about the power of choices and respect in the way they live their lives outside the Martial arts. We challenge them to use the same respect they show inside the school in everything they do outside the school. Everson’s Karate offers students is the ability to experience the power of being surrounded by positive, uplifting people. Everson’s Karate providing a structured healthy environment with positive role models will be the most effective help we can give to each of our students to help them make positive choices in life and peer pressure.
